Forget COVID. We have a much more serious epidemic to deal with
Suicide
At least 3 young people from 15-29 are committing suicide every week in Hong Kong
Let that sink in for a minute
These starts are just what's reported, imagine how many unreported cases there are?
Episode #2 from Heroes Of Hong Kong meets with Andrew Jones CHA FIH from KELY Support Group to discuss these pressing issues
KELY Support Group’s mission since 1991 is to equip young people with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities needed to support themselves and each other, envisioning a world where they are empowered to reach their full potential
It mainly serves Chinese- and English-speaking youth between 14 and 24 around three core focus areas:
Mental Health & Wellbeing, Drug and Alcohol Awareness, and Positive Youth Development
Taking a preventative approach, its programmes and services put great importance on peer support
KELY believes with good mental health, young people can thrive with resilience against the challenges of the modern society
Hence, the promotion and advancement of social and emotional learning are also key elements in its work
